Here at Superscript, we’ve spent some time thinking about how sustainable we are as a company and what we can do to increase our efforts. As a tech company, we’re not unaware that our carbon footprint could be improved, so we’re doing something about it. With that in mind, we’re proud to announce that Superscript is an official signatory of the Tech Zero taskforce, powered by Tech Nation.

Tech zero

Tech Zero is a climate action group for tech companies that are committed to fighting climate change. What started as 16 founding members now has hundreds of signatories pledging for a net-zero target, including companies like Bloom & Wild, Too Good To Go, what3words and allplants. The campaign is backed by partners including Innovate Finance and is supported by the UK government’s Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport

Companies that join Tech Zero agree to measure their scope 1-3 emissions and reduce them to reach an ambitious net-zero target.

Companies that sign up also commit to:

  • Annually measure and publish all scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas emissions
  • Publish more details within a year of joining Tech Zero about how they plan to reach net zero, including setting a net-zero target date and interim targets
  • Appoint a member of the executive team to be responsible and accountable for their net-zero target
  • Communicate climate commitments in other meaningful ways, including to customers
  • Report progress on short and medium-term targets to their Board annually, and on their website

Superscript has pledged to be net zero by 2030 and has already put a plan in place of how we’ll achieve this. The maximum commitment companies can make is to be net zero by 2050.

To help make the transition to net zero easier, Tech Zero has launched a useful toolkit with step-by-step instructions to reduce emissions and coming up with a science-based target as well as handy resources and a glossary.
