Why would I need business equipment cover?

1

To quickly repair or replace your items

In many professions, any downtime without your specialist items of equipment can have a knock-on effect on your ability to do business. Standalone business equipment cover can repair or replace items that are broken, misplaced or stolen extremely quickly so you can get on with the task at hand.

2

To protect your vital equipment against theft

Unfortunately, criminals know that portable business equipment often carries significant value and they target business professionals for their electronic devices and more. Business equipment cover guards against losses sustained when your items are targeted by thieves.

3

To avoid having to take out unwanted additional insurance

Some insurers only offer business equipment cover as part of a policy that includes other covers, such as public liability. Superscript's equipment-only cover is standalone, meaning you aren't tied to taking out additional cover you don't want or need.

What is covered by business equipment insurance?

Damage

If your electronic devices and specialist equipment are damaged, it can cause troubling delays in your work schedule, as well as costly repairs. Business equipment insurance covers you for accidental or malicious damage to your business' equipment, including as a result of flooding and fire, in the office or out and about.

Loss

In the world of business, time equals money and losing a piece of important equipment can cause expensive delays to your business activities. If you, or anyone in your business, has irretrievably misplaced a piece of company equipment, then your policy can cover the cost of the missing item.

Theft

For businesses that use high value equipment, especially computers and phones, the possibility of theft is always apparent. If you are the victim of a crime in which your business' equipment is stolen, your policy can cover the cost of replacing the affected items.

How do claims work?

1

You make a claim

Log in to your online account and go to the ‘Make a claim’ section. There, you can make a claim directly – there's no need to call us.

We'll ask you for some details about your claim, including a crime reference number (if applicable), the date of loss, type of claim and its detailed description.

You can also attach any relevant supporting documentation like proof of loss or proof of purchase.

2

We'll get on the case

Once submitted, your claim will be assessed.

If the claim is large, you may have to provide further information. For smaller claims, you may be able to proceed without further information.

Either way, we'll keep you regularly updated and you'll be able to see the status of your claim on our customer portal.

3

Your claim is settled

After it's been assessed, we'll let you know if your claim has been successful or not.

If items have been lost, stolen or damaged, we might arrange for the items to be replaced or make a payment to you.

Business equipment insurance claims

There are many different situations and events that could lead to a claim under your business equipment insurance policy. Here are a few examples of potential claim scenarios:

As you prepare to present to potential investors, your digital projector is accidentally broken. A business equipment insurance policy can cover you to repair or replace the item quickly and easily, in time for the big meeting.

Laptop is lost on a business trip

During a business trip, an employee misplaces a company laptop while out and about at a conference and the item is not retrieved. Your policy covers the cost of replacing the item.

Camera is stolen during video production

Your media production company is shooting a new video and, while on location, a thief forcibly takes an expensive piece of camera equipment. A business equipment insurance policy covers the cost of replacing the stolen item.
