What cover does this policy offer?

1

Medical malpractice insurance

Medical malpractice insurance is essential for healthcare and allied health professionals working in clinical settings. It offers protection for accidents such as bodily injury or even death to people in your care, covering (but not limited to) reasons such as:

  • Delayed diagnosis
  • Delays in referral
  • Missed diagnosis
  • Physical or mental harm to a person under your care
2

Professional indemnity insurance

Professional indemnity insurance is a popular cover for businesses in general, and is often mandatory for healthcare professionals. It provides protection in relation to claims for financial loss to your client caused by negligence.

For example, if you were to inadvertently incorrectly measure a client for specialist tailored equipment, which resulted in them being unable to use or return the equipment, professional indemnity insurance may be able to recover this cost.

3

Public liability insurance

Another more general cover, public liability insurance offers cover for legal and compensation protection in the event that someone is accidentally injured or their property damaged by you while you're carrying our your work.

For example, if you were to make a home visit to someone in your care and you accidentally spilt something on the floor, damaging their carpet, public liability insurance may cover the cost to clean or replace the carpet.
