Flexible monthly business insurance
We are very pleased to announce our expansion to the Netherlands, the latest step towards our goal of becoming a global leader in SME insurance.
Supercript’s advisory service, SuperscriptQ, will be helping the next leaders in European tech based out of our offices in Rotterdam.
Supporting businesses with emerging technologies secure the right cover, we will initially focus on medtech, fintech and digital asset businesses, before expanding to other high-growth tech sectors.
We are already authorised for operations across the EEA following approval by Dutch regulator AFM and our growing team of insurance experts based out of our Rotterdam office are servicing European tech clients such as Chiliz, Safello, and Liva Healthcare.
The move into the Netherlands follows our strong growth in the UK, with the business growing to five times the size it was 24 months ago and our team doubling in that time.
SMEs make up 99% of all businesses in Europe, with an estimated 23 million in operation, bringing in €3.5trn - over half of Europe’s GDP. Despite this, European SMEs are significantly underserved by insurers.
Cam Shearer, Co-Founder and CEO of Superscript, said:
Small and high growth businesses have traditionally been underserved by the European insurance industry. Particularly in the emerging tech space, finding access to the right advice and covers is exceptionally difficult and often carries high premiums. Superscript’s digital-first approach, underpinned by proprietary tech, is transforming this process for high-growth businesses.
In the UK, we’ve made great strides disrupting business insurance. The Netherlands is the natural next step for us because it has the ideal combination of a strong regulatory body, a large insurance industry and a thriving startup ecosystem. By combining our EU and UK footprint, we will now be able to leverage even more capacity to help ensure customers get the best outcomes. I am excited for what the future holds.
David Dickson, Head of SuperscriptQ, added:
We have worked closely with European customers and partners for a number of years, so this natural expansion is another signal of intent as we take further steps towards providing our services internationally.
The Dutch market is home to some of the biggest FinTech companies in Europe and with it's entrepreneurial economy and talented workforce it offers a natural alignment to Superscript's business, so basing our European operations there seems opportune.
Working in partnership with leading underwriters, we've re-designed a comprehensive range of covers to meet the needs of modern businesses and the emerging risks they face. This includes:
- Professional indemnity insurance
- Cyber insurance
- Management liability
- Crime insurance
- Intellectual property insurance
- Commercial combined insurance
- Contents and equipment insurance
We believe insurers must understand emerging technologies, so as well as expertise in professional and financial services, we’re ahead of risk in FinTech, MedTech, crypto and DLT.
Wherever you are with your business, and wherever you’re going, we offer innovative covers that give you the right protection for your business. With offices in London and Rotterdam we maintain accounts around the globe. If you're in the market for it, check out what we can do for you.
